Since 1973, this community's generosity made it possible for Lighthouse Mission's Agape Home to grow from a single room into six bedrooms that provided services to sixteen women and children. Then in 2009 this community made possible the new Agape Home providing 21 rooms that can shelter between 40 and 50 women and children.
According to Whatcom County's Homeless Count, the majority of the local homeless are female or under the age of 18. The new Agape Home helps fill this urgent need, providing shelter as well as planned programs in parenting, goal setting and spiritual skills that can help these vulnerable families end their cycle of homelessness.
